Creepy Xmas Card

Found on flickr. This card must be really popular. I know it fills me with the holiday spirit. Is it my imagination or does Santa look a little scared? He has certainly looked better.

The holiday season is coming to a close and you know what that means. It is time to start thinking about my performance review at work. Well... that and my list of new year's resolutions. I don't know what dusty drawer I put last year's in, but I wish I could remember. I could probably use it to seed the list.

It will probably go something like:

  • Get back to exercising regularly
  • Try to finish some things perhaps a teeny bit in advance of their due date
  • Be nicer to everyone
  • Develop at least one new skill
  • Spend more quality time with my family
  • Go hiking again this year
  • Take at least one good photo each day
  • Write something in Engish and something in Chinese every day
  • Waste less
  • Continue enjoying life

New Years day is obviously a human creation. Why in winter? Why January first? Why 12 months in the first place? But it is also a good chunk of time to reflect upon. What have I done with these past 365 days?

I'll write more when I think about it some, but it has been a good year overall.

2 Comments:

  • Months based on lunar cycle (approx 30). Twelve lunar cycles required to orbit the sun. Jan 1 is approximately shortest day of the year, which seems like as good a time as any to start counting.

  • I would agree with all your resolutions but hardly think you need work in the area of "be nicer to other people......." Unless there is a different Tygh than the one we know.
